Good afternoon Springfield School District families,
This is Zach McLaughlin, the Superintendent of Schools. I apologize for interpreting the beginning moments of school break, but I have an important and late-developing update I felt was important to communicate right away.
We will continue to be open for instruction after Thanksgiving. As part of our on-going effort to keep our school community safe and keep our schools open, we will be adjusting our health screening questions to be in line with the Governor’s Executive order. Starting Monday, the screener will now include a question about multi-household gatherings. The question will ask if school community members have participated in a multi-household gathering in the last seven days. Individuals who answer “yes” will need to quarantine for the appropriate period of time prior to rejoining in-person school activities.
I hope this helps families plan, and I hope it demonstrates our ongoing commitment to ensure safety while keeping our schools open.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
