District Update

Good afternoon Springfield School District staff, students, and families,

This is Dr. McLaughlin, your Superintendent of Schools.

As we head into the weekend, I wanted to give you three quick updates.

First, I can now let you know our end of the year dates for students and staff. Our COVID waiver was approved by the Secretary of Education. This means that we just need to make up our two snow days, so the last day for students will now be Monday, June 20th and the final day for teachers will be Tuesday, June 21st.

Second, we are about to send out our annual family survey. In this survey, we ask you to give anonymous feedback on your experience with your school. We use this data, along with surveys of students and staff, to help us make ongoing decisions about district operations. I hope that you will take the time to give us your input. Each student contact in our system will be sent an email from Panorama Education with its own unique survey link. You should look for that email some time later this afternoon.

Finally, we have also added some additional COVID procedural updates to our website. You can go to the district website and look under COVID-19 INformation. You also can look for a link in the email associated with this robo call. (Link here.) Updates will include school procedures for possible COVID-19 Illness, an explanation of LAMP Tests vs. Antigen Tests, current rates of COVID-19 in Windsor County, changing vaccination availability and changes to notification of cases at school. Here is the most important request from that update: everyone who has symptoms should stay home and test for COVID-19.  The most effective way to stop any illness from spreading is to stay away from others when sick.

Thanks for giving me a few minutes of your attention, and I hope you and your families have a wonderful spring weekend.
