Founded in 1995 by Mary French of Charleston, South Carolina, the Dictionary Project focuses on supporting literacy as children transition from learning how to read to learning how to find and use information. For more than 20 years, the Springfield Elks have continued this meaningful tradition by providing dictionaries to local third grade students.
These are more than dictionaries of words. Each book is filled with information about the U.S. Constitution, U.S. presidents, the 50 states, world maps, sign language, and much more, giving students a resource they can explore now and continue using for years to come.
